GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS

I've been a bad blogger. But I have visited your blogs when time permitted. It's been busy. Thanksgiving Day it appears this was the only picture taken with my camera. As you can see Laura found lipstick. She was so proud of how pretty she looked. That was until she saw a picture her mother took of her and she got upset and said she looked like a monster! This picture her lipstick is toned down from what it was in the picture her mother took. Here are three of the seven grandchildren on my porch swing after we had all stuffed ourselves.

Tradition has it that we go buy our Christmas Tree Friday of Thanksgiving Weekend. I put the lights on it this year as I did few years as DH isn't able to do that any longer. This year the three

.and two year old granddaughters did the decorating.

The two year old has just hung an ornament her mother made in preschool or kindergarten which has her mother's picture on it.
The three year old up on the step-stool hanging ornaments.

Sampson their dog supervising their work as the three year old comes down off the step-stool.

The finished tree just as they did it. I did put a few on at the very top. Each day they move a few around but I haven't touched it. You may say there are clusters and bare spots but Nana says it is beautiful just as they did it!!

I did do a tad bit of sewing. I needed something else for MIL. She had bought a couple tablecloth panels this summer and hemmed them. But wanted and couldn't find a blue and white one. This one I bought last February at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival from French Connection. I had not gotten around to hemming it. So decided I'd roll hem this one and give it to her. I'll get me another one there this year or order one on-line from them. I did a yellow and blue one for myself a few years ago and they wash and dry so wonderful. Do not fade. This panel could be done either rectangular or round.
And I've done some baking. The two year old
and three year old granddaughters have been helping
Now I must get back to my wrapping and put on a double batch of fudge...

Grandkids and Santa

HURRAH...a picture has finally been made which contains Laura and Rachel with Santa Claus for the Christmas 2008 season.

Laura has melted down if she caught a glimpse of the jolly ole fellow from afar. Rachel would see Laura have a spell and then she'd start crying. Emily has had her picture taken twice with him previously this season.

This was taken when the three girls took the seven grandkids to have their annual Christmas picture taken to give us the grandparents and my in-laws as part of our Christmas present. They didn't know Santa would be there at the time. Laura and Rachel had time to warm up to the Jolly Fellow somewhat. So they had this taken besides the one of just the grandkids.

As you can see Laura is not overly happy but she's in the arms of her hero cousin Jake standing behind Santa. And Rachel is in the arms of her hero cousin Justin to one side of Santa. Rachel appears happier than Laura. Emily is thrilled to be held by Santa. Victoria is behind Justin and Rachel and Elizabeth is to the other side of Santa.

Word has it by the time they left they said Rachel was hugging and high-fiving Santa.

May not be the Real Santa in Richmond who used to reside at Miller and Rhoads Department Store and now at the Children's Museum but hey this is our family's little Christmas Miracle this year Laura and Rachel actually in a picture with Santa!

Christmas---Are You Getting Ready?

Are you getting ready for Christmas yet? I love Christmas! I get crazy, over tired, etc., but I still love every aspect about it!

I have taken down my witches I had outside for Halloween. The pumpkins, gourds and scarecrows, mums, etc., are still out there.

I have been Christmas Shopping and seeing the daylight to finishing that part of it. I have started wrapping. Going to spend an hour wrapping in a few minutes.

Yesterday we did one of our Christmas traditions...attend the Virginia Christmas Show at the Showplace in Richmond. A great craft show for lack of a better word. More of a Bazaar. In a few weeks my favorite Christmas show is Bizarre Bazaar. DH, DD, and three DGD's drove up for it. DH pushed stroller with 1-1/2 and six week old DGD's. The 2-1/2 DGD walked around with one or the other of us. Ladies from Charleston, SC were there with their wonderful Charleston cookies. I bought small bag of each type as I couldn't decide. The wonderful Amish lady from PA was there with her wonderful bake goods. She also had some placemats, potholders, hotpads and beautiful wooden spoon angels. Always load up on her goodies. Got a darling sweatshirt for one of the DD's. Some garden flags. A first for me I didn't buy some type of jewelry there! Nor did I buy a totebag or purse.

Now to go do an hour of wrapping!
